The Ugly Song

The Ugly Songs that we've collected on this new CD really show the diversity of musical styles that can be found on our independently released albums. While we've paid homage to our influences, has never really followed trends. We simply wrote and recorded the music we liked. We experimented; sometimes it worked and other times it didn't, but in the end, we were always free to do what we wanted.

We're proud to be able to include on the Ugly Songs CD the best of our previously released material from the original line-up with Robert Medvedz, as well as the music that Joe and I continued to produce as a duo. Even though the songs have been digitally remixed and remastered from the 4-track master tapes for release on CD, no new overdubbing has been added to the original tracks. They stand on their own, as raw and energetic as they were day we first committed them to tape.

Ugly Songs brings back so many great memories for me, and for you, our friends and fans, it offers a first glimpse at music that in its day could only be found either on the college radio airwaves or bought on cassette directly from the band. Now these songs have a chance to live again in our digital age. Give them a spin, they may be Ugly Songs, but I'm sure you'll learn to love them. Peace. - Patrick

One of 's trademarks has always been the musical diversity of our songs. This compilation CD, which draws from ten years worth of work, is an excellent example of the different musical avenues we've traveled.

I've frequently been asked what type of music we play, and the only answer I can come up with is...well, no answer! We've historically always played whatever we wanted. The driving force was whether or not we liked the song. We never wanted to pigeon hole ourselves into particular musical genres.

Through its diversity, I think you'll find this CD has a little something for everyone. You'll also be able to see how we've matured musically over the years, and perhaps where we will be going in the future. Enjoy! - Joe
