December 17, 2001
Hello everyone, it's Patrick checking in here at the  Newsdesk! We have some new things going on in the world of , as you may have read below. We're fresh from a mixing session at API Studios, working on the new  songs that we've contributed to the Music Is Freedom compilation CD. I think that our friends and fans will be as pleased as Joe and I are with the two new tracks: Free and My Only Friend .

I want to send a Thank You to Tim Keyes and Meg Poltorak at API Records for their support and enthusiasm for the Music Is Freedom project. API Records, as a company, has gone the extra mile with this project and put together a great compilation of music from the core artists on the API roster. API Records has a strong tradition of dedication to the development of their recording artists, so I'm looking forward to great things in the future with regards to . Our participation in the upcoming Music Is Freedom CD has been a great start!

Finally, with the holidays upon us, and the New Year soon to arrive, I want to wish all of our friends and fans the best this holiday season. We should all keep in our minds those who have lost loved ones in the war. I can say this season that I'm more proud than ever to be an American and (this is coming from a Jersey boy,) I'm proud to be a New Yorker. - Patrick

continues their work on the two songs they are contributing to the upcoming API Records compilation CD, Music is Freedom. The band has built upon the work begun in Virginia, recording the instruments and vocals for the songs at their New Jersey recording studio.  will be going into API Studios next week to mix the tracks and participate in the mastering session for the new CD.

In addition to , the Music is Freedom CD will feature contributions by the artists Tim Keyes and FunHaus, along with more participating artists to be finalized.

On a side note, the band FunHaus is made up of 's own Patrick Bamburak, API solo recording artist Tim Keyes, and vocalist Michelle Aversano. FunHaus has been a long-standing studio project that the artists have worked on, and the Music is Freedom CD will debut a sampling of some of the music they have created together.

Patrick had these thoughts on this latest recording project: "The thing I like best about Music is Freedom, is that there are many recording artists with different styles working together for this common cause. We are making a simple statement with this project, that our music is our freedom and we will continue to create our music as a positive action to fight to defend our freedom. The variety of music and styles will keep it interesting, so I'm really excited about getting this CD out into people's hands. For me personally, it feels like something I need to do in order to get myself back on track after September 11th. Joe and I will be working on our new album soon, so it's time to get back to business, but we will never forget how our world has changed and how proud we are to be Americans." - Newsdesk

entered the recording studio this past weekend in preparation for the upcoming API Records compilation CD. The CD, tentatively titled Music is Freedom, will feature two new songs: Free and My Only Friend, both of which are slated for 's new CD, Big Top World. The band, working out of their Virginia recording studio, tracked the drums for both songs over the weekend.

"We hope to have both songs recorded and mastered by December, which would put the compilation CD on track for a mid-January release," Joe reports. Keep checking back at baitoven.com for more information on the compilation CD, as well as the progress on the new album , Big Top World - Newsdesk

will be participating in an upcoming recording project designed to use the gift of music as a positive expression of America's freedom in the face of those who seek to defeat America. Throughout this national crisis, our music has been used to unite us and inspire us. Right now, the specific details of the project are being planned and the other participating artists are signing on. Additional details on the upcoming recording project will be announced here at baitoven.com once they are finalized.

Also, remember that the new  EP, Coming Attractions, is available instore and online at Vintage Vinyl, and additionally at the API Records website. Coming Attractions offers a unique "preview" of three songs destined for the forthcoming full-length album, Big Top World. - Newsdesk

September 26, 2001
I recently had a meeting with our friends at API Records to discuss the upcoming album, as well as other creative projects that I will be involved in at API. For our friends and fans, I can certainly promise you that this new partnership with API Records will help to push the band to new levels. The forthcoming college-radio promotion campaign for the Coming Attractions EP is in the works. The promotion strategy for the upcoming album, Big Top World, is also being formulated. Don't be surprised to see a music video on your television sometime in 2002. I'm letting my hair grow for that one!

So now, it's time for Joe and I to get down to work. You may have read In The Studio, here at baitoven.com, some information about our ideas concerning how we will record the new album. We've been building toward this goal for a long time, and we're very excited about getting the new album underway. We're also excited about adding API Studios to the mix, which will guarantee that the new recording will capture us at our sonic best! There is alot to look forward to, and we're eager to press on. will continue to rock in the greatest nation on planet Earth!

I've had some feedback in light of the recent attack on America concerning the message contained in our first single off of the September CD. The song is called, America Can't Last, and the lyric in the chorus says, "America can't last, without love." On the surface, the song conveys the message that nothing in life is certain or secure, so the only way we can all survive is to love one another. I think the world has seen the love that we Americans have shown for each other and how we call pull together when our way of life is threatened. We may fight and disagree among ourselves, but when our freedom is attacked, we will all stand together as a united people. Some people elsewhere in the world may not understand that, but it is the truth. I'd like to thank our friends and fans who have commented on the message of the song.

Thanks! - Patrick

September 17, 2001
For those who are interested, I posted some of my thoughts on the tragic events of the past week on the Message Board at Yahoo! Being a New Jersey resident, who lives close to and often works in New York City, I have been fortunate to be able to account for all of my family and friends' safety. This crime, however, has been a personal attack on every American and our way of life. You can read my thoughts on the Message Board and respond if you like.

I think that one of the main emotions I have contended with in the past week, is a feeling of helplessness in the face of this great loss of life. We have all seen on the news, the incredible outpouring of support from all people, in America and in the world, who cherish freedom. From people donating blood, food, supplies, or contributing money, to the many brave rescue workers and volunteers who have traveled to New York and Washington to risk their lives in the hope of saving others, people everywhere are trying to play a role in our recovery from this attack. I think we all have an obligation to contribute in any way we can, and I think the most important contribution that all of us can make in these times is to not let terrorism prevent us from enjoying our way of life. Our way of life and the principles of freedom were the targets of last Tuesday's attack, and though many lives were lost and our buildings fell, I believe our way of life and our belief in freedom will prevail in the end. It is America's free society and the free societies of the world that have contributed to humanity's greatest accomplishments. Freedom is what put humans on the Moon and is fundamental to our efforts in areas such as the environment and conservation of wildlife.

Making music and promoting new albums may seem like trivial matters compared to what may await all of us in the coming days, but I think that to deny ourselves the pleasure we receive from such things would be giving in to defeat. To music fans all over the world, songs are the soundtracks to our lives and often represent very deep things to us as we move through our life experience. We need to let our songs be heard and to let our music sustain through these difficult times. Never before as a songwriter, have songs seemed so important to me. I know I will not take my freedom for granted anymore. I'm not just saying these things with regard to .

I spent the other night just listening to CD's from all of my favorite bands, and I just felt that enjoying the music was for me, a small act of defiance in the face of this terrorist threat to my way of life. Let's support each other and work together to get through this. And I want to say that as an American, I'm proud of every police officer, fire fighter, rescue worker, and service man and woman who have come to our aid in this crisis. Thank you to Mayor Giuliani, who has shown the leadership that New York and New Jersey needs at this moment. Thank you to President George Bush, whose obvious emotional involvement in this issue has shown that our leaders are sometimes made from mettle other than personal ambition, that they are sometimes made with a genuine concern for the welfare of our country and its people. And Thank you to Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Colin Powell, in whose abilities, I have a profound trust. All Americans can be sure that we have leaders we can depend on in this time of national crisis.

And so, I know that Joe and I will carry on with making our music, because has always represented freedom to us. I would never have guessed that a day would come when that freedom was under such vicious attack, but that day has arrived, and I for one, will continue to rock in defiance. - Patrick

> I can't begin to match the eloquence of Patrick's post. His thoughts and feelings echo my own sentiments. Having spent most of my life in New Jersey, it is impossible not to know someone who has been affected by this tragic act of cowardice. Now, living outside of our great nation's capital, I am finding out about people we know here who were lost in the attack on the Pentagon.

It is important that we not forget what transpired on September 11, 2001. I have included a link on our home page which provides information on how each of us can assist in the recovery efforts. Mayor Guiliani mentioned at a press conference that if we really want to help New York, we should go to the city and spend money there. While that is not possible for everyone, it is vitally important that we not allow this action to influence or alter our way of life. The greatest act of defiance we can collectively make is to show these cowards that they cannot, and will not, deter us from living our lives as free and proud people. - Joe

Here is the latest on the new Coming Attractions EP - API Records and will be mounting a college radio promotion campaign in the coming weeks. We'll report all of the latest developments with the radio campaign right here at baitoven.com. We're hoping to raise awareness and build up momentum as the band begins work at API Studios on the forthcoming full-length album.

In the near future, API Records will also be adding the Coming Attractions EP to their website for online purchase.

The Coming Attractions EP, along with the albums September and Ugly Songs, are all available for purchase in-store at Vintage Vinyl, in Fords, NJ. Vintage Vinyl still has Coming Attractions listed as Admit One on their website, although the error has been corrected in their in-store system. Any fans having difficulty finding the Coming Attractions EP online can email or visit API Records for further information on availability. - Newsdesk

August 1, 2001
We have some information concerning the new EP, which we had previously nicknamed Coming Attractions. The EP is now available online exclusively at www.vvinyl.com and in a sobering bout of logic, Vintage Vinyl have re-nicknamed the EP Admit One. Why would they call the EP Admit One you ask? Because in the cover art, there are two tickets with the words Admit One prominently featured. And thus, we will henceforth allow the name Admit One as an acceptable nickname for the officially untitled new EP!! Once again, Vintage Vinyl will be the exclusive online vendor for this new release - Admit One - containing the tracks, "Big Top World", "Inherit the Earth", and "I Cherish You". The EP is also available at the Vintage Vinyl store location in Fords, NJ, along with the full catalog of CD releases.

We're very excited about our new agreement with API Records for the recording and release of the forthcoming album Big Top World. In other API news, the song "The Power" which I co-wrote with Tim Keyes and Kassy Michaels, has been chosen as the first single from Kassy's newly released debut album. A CD single is being issued by API Records to radio and commercial outlets with various remixes of the song. Keep an ear peeled on the radio for "The Power" and listen closely for a hint of that lyrical style. We all have "the power" within us really... - Patrick

The new "Coming Attractions" EP is back from the pressing plant. At some point this week, I will be bringing 25 copies of the CD to Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ, where they will be available for free until those 25 are gone. After that, we will add the CD for sale with all of our online vendors. At that time, the "Coming Attractions" EP will also be available for sale, along with the rest of the CD catalog, at Vintage Vinyl. Once again, the track list on the new EP is as follows:

Big Top World
Inherit the Earth
I Cherish You

Check back often with us at baitoven.com for advance info as to when the 25 free copies will turn up at Vintage Vinyl.

In other news - Our friends at API Records have released a new pop album from the talented singer Kassy Michaels. Her debut album contains a song called "The Power" which I co-wrote with Tim Keyes and Kassy. Best of luck to Kassy and API Records on the new release!!

I'll be back soon with more news... - Patrick

May 22, 2001
The latest CD is on its way to the pressing plant. As mentioned earlier on baitoven.com, the new release offers a preview of the next full-length album, Big Top World. The three song EP is tentatively titled "Coming Attractions," and we anticipate it being available on the internet within a few weeks.

In the meantime, you can discuss , or whatever you desire, with other fans around the world by visiting the message board. This link will probably serve as a temporary host for our message board. We have plans to revamp all of baitoven.com, and an on-site message board may be in the works. Hope to see you all there! - Joe

May 8, 2001
Straight to it then - We're finishing up the artwork for the soon-to-be-released CD single. That keeps us on target for a June release. We'll post the date here at baitoven.com once it is finalized. As usual, the CD single will be available from the online vendors that currently carry the CD catalog. By the way, the list of online vendors that carry CD catalog is getting quite enormous. Bless the Internet!! For our friends within traveling distance of the famed Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ, keep an eye peeled as there will be a limited number of CD singles available there for free once the single is released.

We've had some brief discussions with a few record labels about the possibility of partnering up for the release of our next full-length album. We'll keep everyone in the loop if we decide to go that route. There is also a label that has expressed an interest in releasing a collection of regrooved and remixed classics. We'll be consulting the magic 8 ball on that one. We gotta get the product in the stores... I guess we always have something cooking around here!

Also, we were recently contacted by a promoter concerning live performances this summer. Since we will be working on the new album, we could not commit to any concert dates just yet, but our friends and fans can be assured that will hit the road to support the new album once it is complete. I can't wait to get out there so I think we could classify touring as a pretty high priority for the band.

I'll leak some more secret info soon! Also, check back with us as I'm working on a new In The Studio post that we'll unveil shortly. - Patrick

April 11, 2001
This probably should be posted In The Studio here at baitoven.com, yet it is newsworthy enough to justify posting it in the News section, yet... and I thought it was hard enough simply to choose the words to paint our little glories. Now we must choose where to post them! But I digress...

We're are fresh from a very productive session with our friend Eric Rachel at Trax East. As I mentioned in the previous News post, we will be releasing a CD single in the near future which will preview three new songs destined for the forthcoming full-length album.

The track list for the CD single is as follows:

Big Top World
Inherit the Earth
I Cherish You

A release date will be announced shortly.

We had a special guest at the mastering session. Were you to open your copy of the CD September, you would see his name appearing somewhere in text as deserving of our thanks in some way. He and his band are putting the finishing touches on a new recording project of their own. We'll be sure to share more details on our friend's new project as they are announced. As a teaser, one idea we did toss around is the prospect of some /"mystery band" concert dates this coming fall. We'll see how that works out! - Patrick

After long deliberations, Patrick and I selected the winner of the Ugly Songs' "Name the Fish" contest we held earlier in the year. The winning name was "Bait D. Fish," and the winner will be receiving autographed copies of September and Ugly Songs. Thanks to all who participated, and thanks to all who continue to visit our humble home on the web. - Joe

April 2, 2001
I spent a great deal of time in my recording studio this past week working on songs that I've written for the next album. I'll post some details about these sessions In The Studio in the near future. All of this recent work has given me an idea which I think some of our friends and fans will be interested in. I'm considering releasing a CD single previewing three of the tracks that are destined for the next album. This CD single would contain the versions of the songs that I've cut in my studio thus far and give our friends and fans something to munch on while Joe and I are busy toiling away In The Studio on the full-length album. Once the full-length album is finished, it will contain new and different versions of the songs previewed on the single, which should be quite interesting. We'll post more information here at baitoven.com once I finalize some of the details concerning the CD single.

In the meantime, check out the CD catalog at CDNOW, (or the preferred internet vendor of your choice!) CDNOW has gone and posted song samples from all of the tracks on our most recent release, the Ugly Songs compilation CD. I haven't listened to the samples myself yet, so I'm interested to know what they sound like. Just use the Own The Music link in the top right corner of this page to get there. The feedback on Ugly Songs has been quite good thus far. They are an ugly yet endearing collection of songs, and offer an interesting look back at the early years of the band we all know as .

If you prefer to shop the old way for your CD's, remember that the one and only Vintage Vinyl, in Fords, New Jersey, is currently the only brick and mortar store carrying the CD catalog. We shouldn't be too hard to find, just look for us racked in either the New Releases section or the Rock section. While at Vintage Vinyl the other day, I tried standing next to the CD's on the shelf banging on a pot with a metal spoon to attract attention. It didn't work very well. Everyone ran away from me, instead of toward me and the CD's. The police were very understanding about the whole incident though.

We'll be posting the winning entry in the Ugly Songs Name the Fish contest very soon. The winner will be receiving autographed copies of both September and Ugly Songs. In fact, they'll be the very same CD's that Joe and I are clutching in the second installment of the Egyptian Tomb photos.

I'll be back with more News very soon. There's always something going on here so be sure to check back often. Wink! - Patrick

March 1, 2001
Well, the Ugly Songs' Name the Fish contest has come to a close. Patrick and I will be reviewing the entries we've received so far and will pick the one that we like best. We should have the winning entry posted here in the News section within a few days. Thanks to all who participated, and to those who continue to visit our site.

In the meantime, stop by the Multimedia section, where you can listen to selected tracks from the Ugly Songs CD. - Joe

February 28, 2001
I was flipping through the channels on the telly and caught the Bravo Profile special on Penn & Teller. It was very interesting. There's even better stuff on their official website, Sin City. I found Teller's writings to be very well crafted, definitely worth a read or two! Check them out.

Remember that the Ugly Songs' Name the Fish contest wraps up this week. Autographed copies of September and Ugly Songs will be promptly mailed to the winner, so you got to be in it to win it!

Pre-production work continues on the next album. Check out In the Studio for the latest.

Finally, for our friends and fans in New Jersey, remember that the CD catalog is now available at the famous Vintage Vinyl store in Fords. Don't be surprised if you see me browsing the racks as well when you are there shopping. I think I'm an addicted CD buyer, but I guess there are worse vices.

Thanks for visiting baitoven.com and check back often! - Patrick

February 1, 2001
For our friends and fans in New Jersey, don't forget to check us out in the fabled racks of Vintage Vinyl, in Fords. I was just there the other day because I was on the hunt for a John Cale CD. While I was over in the C section, flipping through discs, I noticed someone walking over to the B area. Moments later I heard shouts of joy and looked up to see much rejoicing, and I'm almost positive that I saw a copy of September clutched tightly in the person's hand as they skipped off to the register beaming with glee. Although it could've been Bowie in their hand... no I'm pretty sure it was us!

Remember that the deadline for the Ugly Songs "Name the Fish" contest is coming up - February 28, 2001. All you need to do to enter is follow the link to the contest page here at baitoven.com and name the fish! We'll select the most creative and entertaining name and that person will win autographed CD's of both September and Ugly Songs !

Meanwhile we have more studio work looming on the horizon, which we'll share with you In The Studio here at baitoven.com. It'll be some good stuff.

And continue to keep an eye peeled for sightings on the web. Email us and let us know when you find us on new links pages, if you discover new CD or MP3 reviews, or anything thing else you might find. We periodically receive emails from music pages that link to our site, so I'm always on the lookout for new info. Keep in touch! - Patrick

January 12, 2001
We're looking forward to having another busy year with this endeavor we call . As you know, both September and Ugly Songs are available on the web through all of the major online music vendors. To purchase CD's, you need only to follow the Own the Music link in the upper right-hand corner of this screen. For our friends and fans in New Jersey, you can now purchase CD's at the famous record store, Vintage Vinyl, in Fords. Vintage Vinyl happens to be my favorite store, (even more than the supermarket!) My most recent purchases there were Brain Damage in Oklahoma City and The Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda by the late percussionist Angus Maclise, (check them out!) We'll keep you posted as additional stores begin to carry the CD's. - Patrick

January 1, 2001
Well, its a new year and a new millennium. And what better way to ring in the new year than to look back at the old one?

2000, was it the real new millennium?
(Patrick) Of course not! Unless there's a year zero that we don't know about!

(Joe) Although it made for better news stories, 2000 was not the beginning of the new millennium. I wonder...will Fox studios change to 21st Century Fox now?

Favorite album of the year?
(Patrick) Black Market Music by Placebo. I waited for that record to come out like a hysterical fanatic! I literally sped to the record store to buy one of the five copies they had. There was a bigger line in France, where the album went straight to Number One! (Can I add Lou Reed's Ecstacy as favorite 1 1/2?)

(Joe) I don't remember if it came out in 2000 or not, but the album I listened to most in 2000 was probably Brand New Day by Sting .

Favorite movie of the year?
(Patrick) I can never remember what year my favorite movies come out since they go to video so fast. I watched Being John Malkovitch on DVD New Year's Eve, so does that count?

(Joe) I guess that would have to be X-Men. Gladiator was pretty good, too, but not as enjoyable as X-Men. Mr. Crowe will be happy to know that my ringing endorsement almost assures that Gladiator will sweep the Oscars.

Favorite book of the year?
(Patrick) The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff. I wasn't sure whether I was a boy or a girl by the time I was finished with it.

(Joe) That's pretty easy for me to answer, as I only finished reading one book in 2000! Yes, I am incredibly lazy. I've started a number of books, but they all have bookmarks sticking out of them from when I last put them down. My favorite book is the highly intellectual auto-biography by Mick Foley: Mankind, Have a Nice Day .

Your personal high point of Y2K?
(Patrick) Starting and ending the year with CD releases. September and Ugly Songs have been cathartic for me as a songwriter. 2001 is when we stop looking back and leap forward.

(Joe) Getting baitoven.com on-line, with a boat-load of help from Teresa. Actually, a more proper way of saying this would be "watching Teresa put baitoven.com together." So I'm cheating...my personal high point was actually something done by someone else!

Your personal low point of Y2K?
(Patrick) Not being able to split myself into two people.

(Joe) Having to spend New Years day at work and not with my family. The Y2K Bust was a great consultant-wing conspiracy foisted upon us to keep us from enjoying the holidays!

2001, What's your New Year's resolution?
(Patrick) To finish what I've started. I try to do so many things at once, I end up getting nothing done. If I have to finish what I start, I'll hopefully choose what I start more wisely. So I guess I'll start by choosing what I start more wisely so that I can finish what I've started. See, I'm in trouble already!!

(Joe) I'll join the millions of people who resolve to exercise more this year. I know...boring. ;-)
